The Non-Gray Posts - Part IV

October 27, 2007 by Christodolus in Alternation

The book continues, speaking of a battle commander, a young man with an afro called Nerus. Nerus won great wars for the Non-Gray Posts and was one of the most prolific warlords on their side. The book talks about his origins as a young warrior, eager to prove himself, out on a faraway outpost. It speaks of how he single-handedly deleted three assassins, unfortunately not before they had accomplished their task, eliminating all of the high ranked officials at the outpost. Nerus now ranked the highest, despite not being a month older than 17. The book meanders here, and other sources are useful to continue the story. Mistakenly thinking the outpost to be under attack, he called for the rest of the battalion to move in a shock assault on the enemy, the only move left to them, a suicidal move.

Good luck, fortune and the weather were on his side as the phalanx marched right into a supply convoy that was just recovering from a storm. Rose-tinted glasses allowed those with him to portray this as a glorious battle, but it was a straight rout and the non-gray posts smashed the convoy. They went on to achieve true glory, moving along the same road to destroy another squadron just as allied cavalry attacked their forward lines. Fortune was truly on his side.
